Littie Monkey

Mia!

She is my newest monkey sculpt.

My husband says they are "scary" and remind him of voodoo.  He asked me if (while everyone is gone during the day) I sprinkle chicken blood over them and poke pins in them.  I told him he better be nice to me.   Just in case.

I love their mouths and sticking up hair!  The mouths came about by pure accident.  I was frustrated with the way the mouth was coming out on a previous sculpt and pushed it waaaaay in (on purpose).  I decided I kinda liked it.  It was either that or poke him with pins.  The monkey not the husband.

Littie Elf & Littie Monster-WIP

I received my first order from Secrist Doll Supply last Friday!
Insert Happy Dance!

I decided to begin work on an Elf and Monster, as those were the ideas that had been swimming around in my head for weeks! I began work on the Elf head but was NOT happy with the result. I'd read somewhere that it is good to let your work sit a while then go back to it. I'm so glad I resisted the temptation to go ahead and bake! I did not like her mouth...she looked like she'd had Botox!

I then proceeded to work on the Monster head. Again, not as happy with it as I'd like. I realized she had a droopy eye!

I let them BOTH sit overnight. SO happy I did! I was so much happier with the results of reworking the mouth and eye.

Non-Botox Mouth!

I love her ears

One of my favorite parts is making the feet.

Beginning to add the hair. I love when the picture in my head starts to become reality!!

Baby Making!

I have another addiction, which is definitely not what I needed!  Making clay babies!  I've been playing with the clay for about 3 years now, but have been totally obsessed as of late.
There seems to be something therapeutic about squishing and kneading clay.  At least for me!
I think the best part for me, is that I get to play with dolls~at my age!  I also like the fact that it incorporates so many of my favorite crafts.  After making the actual doll, I get to either crochet or sew the doll's clothes.

Here are just a few body parts that I've made recently.  I find it funny that my husband and daughter do not even bat an eye anymore, when they come home to find trays of body parts lying around the kitchen and dining room!

I will try to keep this blog updated as the babies progess!  Until next time~
